Requirements, Qualifications & Expectations for Volunteer Alongside Providers

Requirements for ALL Alongside Providers


Personal and Spiritual:

  • A belief in the Lord Jesus Christ and a personal relationship with the Savior. 
  • Skills of active listening to the needs of Global Women.
  • A commitment to actively pray with the women served.


All Providers will be need to:

  • Register on Thrive’s HUB (volunteer profile account)
  • Be approved through Thrive’s application and interview process and invited by specific Area Lead
  • Provide all services pro bono
  • Participate in annual provider surveys
  • Ability to commit to the Alongside ministry for a minimum one year


Technical Requirements for all Alongside Volunteer Providers:

  • Access to a computer or smartphone with audio/video capability in order to communicate with participants overseas via mediums such as Skype, What’sApp, Zoom, FaceTime, etc.
  • Electronic abilities to send & receive data from Thrive, Alongside and participants
  • Refer to Thrive’s HUB for information in your area


The general structure for all three ministry areas is as follows:

  • 1-year initial commitment to Alongside
  • Sessions are held 1-2 times per month, usually over 8-12 months (via video)
  • Sessions are scheduled for approximately 1 hour






Qualifications & Expectations for each of the 3 areas:


Mentors:

  • Mentors have 2-3 significant experiences relating one-on-one in a mentoring relationship with women
  • Mentors have some meaningful experience interacting with global women
  • Mentors are to participate in Mentoring ongoing education by attending at least 1-2 mentor training Zoom sessions provided

Life Coaches:

  • Certificate of Completion from a recognized Life Coach Program
  • Maintain an ACC (Associate Certified Coach) or PCC (Professional Certified Coach) OR MCC (Master Certified Coach) credential or equivalent
  • Life Coaches are to participate in Life Coaching ongoing education by attending at least 1-2 training Zoom sessions provided


Spiritual Directors:

  • Certificate of Completion from a two year Spiritual Direction Program or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year of experience or 3 Spiritual Direction/Directee relationships
  • Ongoing participation in peer supervision group for Spiritual Directors
  • Significant relational skills of compassion and asking the Holy Spirit's presence
  • Spiritual Directors are to participate in Spiritual Directors ongoing education by attending at least 1-2 training Zoom sessions provided
