A program for mentoring, life coaching, and spiritual direction.
What’s the difference between mentoring, life coaching, and spiritual direction?
Mentorship is a relationship between two women, connected for the purpose of encouragement and guidance, intended in this context to serve women living and ministering overseas. Life Coaching is a focused conversation that empowers women to move toward their desired habits, goals and dreams. Spiritual Direction is devoted to listening and discerning the Holy Spirit’s movement in a participant's life, seeking to grow in their personal journey of faith, and evaluating how God may be invi
Is there a time frame for accessing Alongside services after a Thrive retreat or Gathering event?
No, you can participate with Alongside at any time while you are serving on the field. There is no time limit to sign up after you attend a Thrive event but availability is on a first come, first serve basis.
Is counseling offered? What’s the difference between counseling and the Alongside programs?
Unfortunately, counseling is not offered through Alongside. A simplified way of understanding the distinction is that counseling often pushes participants to reflect on and process the past, while mentoring, life coaching, and spiritual direction are largely focused on looking ahead at future decisions or present events in a participant’s life. Some participants may seek counseling in conjunction with, but separate from their Alongside participation.
Is there a charge for Alongside services?
No! Our Alongside providers generously donate their services for global workers through Thrive.
Is Alongside only available to North American women?
Yes, Alongside is only available for North American women at this time, however we are always reevaluating the needs of global workers and listening to where God calls our ministry.
Is there an age limit for receiving mentoring?
Absolutely not. Mentors are typically older than mentees, but sometimes God provides mentorship among peers who’ve had similar life experiences.
